To increase confidence and competence in managing short and long term absence.

• Persistent absence case study and practical session
• Long term absence: employer’s legal responsibilities
• Skilled listening and questioning behaviours: vocal, verbal and non verbal
• Absence and Disability, Maternity and Alcohol
• Performance problems
• Absence policy: open forum
• Return to work interview and phased returns
• Ongoing absence management and regular reviews

Participants will understand the role of the line manager / supervisor in dealing with absence.
