• Recognise the significance of capital gearing and the use of gearing ratios in the evaluation of business viability
and in the exercise of financial control
• Identify the principal accounting issues of concern to financial managers
• Understand key accounting ratios and the use of performance indicators to assess company performance within the SIC code for the industry being investigated.
